No Growth in the Comfort Zone...No Comfort in the Growth Zone

Guten Tag!!!

I hope everyone is doing well! I feel like this week just flew by, but then again I think I say that every week. The weather here in Munich is absolutely beautiful, spring is definitely in the air! (Sorry Elder Jaynes) This last week was, hmm let me say, full of surprises! Last week we met with Angi at the bishops house. Angi is doing well. A side note...Elena who was just baptized, was bearing testimony to Angi about the difficulties when a husband is not spiritual and supportive...she told her that was a part of the journey. My heart nearly broke as I saw these two friends of mine consoling and bearing testimony to one another. Well, this last appointment with Angi, I had the thought to talk about fasting. So we did just that. I was able to bear testimony of the miracles I have seen personally of fasting. Angi at first said that it was too hard for her to fast...I told her to just think about it. Well on the following Sunday, she came up to me and said that she was just finishing her fast...she had fasted simply out of gratitude for the Lord. The following Thursday, we met and Angi had said that she had fasted again on Tuesday for more love in her home and for some personal questions. As a result, Angi shared with me, that she knew she wanted to be baptized. In this moment, I told Angi that she could be baptized next week if she wanted. Although I knew that would not happen, sometimes people just need to hear what they are capable of. As we continued to talk, this young, faith-filled mother simply had the desire to be baptized. With her husband being simply against the institution of religion in general, we would need a miracle. We told Angi that she should choose a date, have faith, we would all fast, and ask our Father in Heaven for a miracle. He seems to be working enough miracles recently...what is one more, right?! :) At first, she was not too excited. She thought we should not tell God what to do. As we continued to talk, she just reached over and grabbed my planner with my calendar in it. She looked at it and chose March 23rd. On Saturday, we began our fast on behalf of this sweet family, that a miracle would happen in the heart of the father. Before we began our fast, we sent Angi the following scriptures...
"Nevertheless the children of God were commanded that they should gather themselves together oft, and join in fasting and mighty prayer in behalf of the welfare of the souls of those who knew not God. Alma 6:6 and Mormon 9 19-21 And if there were miracles wrought then, why has God ceased to be a God of miracles and yet be an unchangeable Being? And behold, I say unto you he changeth not; if so he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles. And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust. Behold, I say unto you that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth."
We will meet with Angi this week so I will let you know next week the miracles that come from the fast! Next suprise this week was an interesting conversation wtih our wonderful stake president here in Munich! We had stake conference this weekend here in Munich and is was wonderful! I remember seeing a missionary give a talk at stake conference on my mission and being so glad it was not me up there. haha Serves me right, because guess who gave a talk at stake conference? Yes, this girl! Hence the title of this email. Since giving talks in English is not my favorite things, imagine giving me a talk in German...at stake conference? Just a little out of my comfort zone! As I received the invitation to speak, I knew why I had been so blessed with the many miracles we have seen. I was able to share the beautiful miracle of Margit at stake conference. As part of my talk (with permission from the stake president) I invited the sweet sister who was the friend of Margit to come up and share her testimony of it all. It was so great to be standing there at the pulpit with a member next to me, sharing this miracle. It was definitely a moment I will never forget.
I am so grateful for our Father in Heaven. He knows us and loves us. His plan is perfect and is filled with opportunities for us to learn, grow, and be happy. All we have to do is be willing to do His will, try our best to do what He asks of us, and He will extend our abilities to accomplish all that He asks of us. I know that the Lord is at the head of our church. I have seen His hand in my life and in the lives of the people here in Munich. He is in the details. He lives and loves us! I am so grateful that I am able to serve a mission and share this glorious knowledge here in Munich, in german!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Ich habe euch LIEB!!!!
XOXOXO
