I hope everyone is doing well and getting excited for Christmas! It is a beautiful time of year here in Munich!!! It is such a blessing to be serving here during this time of year. Don't worry there is the same hustle and bustle of people getting grumpy doing their shopping...it is just accompanied by great german accents. haha To go right along, there are also people who are truly trying to spend the season right and think on the real reason of Christmas. I am so grateful to be a missionary at this time of year. Sharing the good news of the gospel and our Savior Jesus Christ!
This last week was great! We had a few miracles happen! The first, Angela. Angela invited us to her home which is about 40 minutes from Munich. As we took a train and then drove for a bit, my hear was so grateful and at awe that this sweet Mom had done this traveling every Sunday morning with two little kids for the past month. And all for something that she felt was true, not completely understanding, just trusting in our Heavenly Father. How beautiful. As we sat in the cozy home of Angela, we were able to share the first few points of the Plan of Happiness! My favorite. :) It was a wonderful lesson which was ended with a humble, sweet prayer from Angela. She thanked her Father in Heaven that she was able to learn more about His plan that day. Angela was able to hear the sweet words of God's plan in this life on that cold winter morning. I was glad I was able to be part of it. Have I mentioned how grateful i am to be a missionary? Well, i am.
Next was with Elena! Elena is my friend from Ukraine. She has three children and also a husband (from Russia) who is against the church. (What is wrong with the men around here!!!!) Elena is the friend who had the weird dream...and then I felt i should share a random scripture which was an answer to her prayer..ya that Elena. Well Elena finished the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and then recently the Pearl of Great Price. Ya, she is better than most members. haha She knows and loves the Gospel. Well her little family is still coming to English class including her husband! Elena said that her husband never wanted to come into the church, but since the English class, he is beginning to change! Don't worry Elder Jaynes, we will practice how to say some stuff in russian on Christmas! :) Well anyways we had a great lesson on Thursday. We had a conference clip in russian to show her from President Monson. She loved it! She then found a few scriptures in the Book of Mormon that went well with the topic. Elena is just amazing. As Elena was bearing testimony and explaining her feelings, i just knew we needed to set a baptismal date with her. This young, smart, loving Mom needs the blessings of the Gospel that come from being baptized and receiving the Holy Ghost! So we did just that. We, with Elena, are praying that by February 1, 2014, her husband will allow Elena to enter the waters of baptism. We will need a miracle. But luckily we know that God is a God of Miracles. He has worked a miracle within each of us, some required more of heaven's help than others. (haha) I am grateful that our Heavenly Father is same yesterday, today, and forever.
I am so grateful for our Savior, Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and that He loves you and I perfectly. You are loved. Not only from a sister missionary in München, Germany, but also from the Creator of the Universe. It is our responsibility this time of year to share His love with our brothers and sisters. Sometimes it requires wrapping paper, but more commonly it requires a helping hand, kind words, or even a simple smile. I am grateful to be able to share His love with the people of Munich this Christmas season. Just as our Father in Heaven sent His Son Jesus Christ to the earth for us - as a gift out of love, let us love one another. Be happy! Life is beautiful because He was born, lived a perfect life, died, and then rose again that third glorious day.
Ich habe euch LIEB!!!!!
Fröliche Weinachten!!!!!
XOXOXOXOXOXO
Schwester Jaynes
