Life Is Hard, Not the Gospel

Servus!!!

I hope everyone is doing well! We had a good week here in Munich! Nothing too crazy happened but the Lord's work is moving forward! You know what, life is hard some times. Yes. Life is hard, but the Gospel is not. I have seen that in a few different ways this past week. Angela's situation is not any easier, her husband is still not supportive. In her case, her life is a little complicated or hard. It was so neat to have her meet one angel in the ward, Schwester Fischer-Laudenbach, who has a great conversion story which included also a non-supportive husband. It was so cool to see how the Gospel was able to help Angela by hearing how another one of Heavenly Father's daughter came closer to Him despite the challenges. I saw the proof of this statement again when we met with a recent convert named Birko. Birko is a young, brilliant, student who was baptized last February. Birko's situation at home is also difficult since her family is against her being active in the church. Today we were actually with Birko talking about the Plan of Salvation. Birko is doing an exchange semester at the U this spring. She leaves in a few weeks and actually would love to get her endownments out there in the Salt Lake temple. Well we were able to talk about the Plan of Happiness! Birko has the strongest faith and hope despite the difficulty she faces at home. Birko was baptized in a simple white dress that a sister in the ward lent her. Today we were able to give Birko that same white dress with a picture of the salt lake temple. The member wanted to give the dress to Birko for her endownment. What a special moment. I will never forget this sweet moment and feeling how much God loves Birko.
Finally I saw this at our ward Christmas party. Our ward here in Munich is struggling. I will have to write about it more another time. On Saturday we were able to come together as brothers and sisters and feel the Christmas spirit and just have fun. It was a few hours of just pure happiness. I attached some pictures from it. Us missionaries sang and gave each member a little note. Again the thought was, life is hard, not the Gospel.
I am so grateful for this knowledge. Yes, life is unfair sometimes. Life can indeed be hard. But the Gospel of Jesus Christ is and will always be simple and easy. The Lord loves us and wants us to be happy. I testify of God's mercy and plan for us. He lives and knows how hard life can be. He is always near to help us through these times. I am grateful for that.

Sorry it is short - I will write more next week!
XOXOXO
Schwester Jaynes
