I hope everyone enjoyed Conference weekend! We did here in Linz. It was so cool to see a few of our investigators come and feel the Spirit of Conference and hear living Prophets and Apostles. So cool. Don't worry, Melanie came to EVERY session of conference. What? Who does that? Melanie. It was really cool. There were two experiences with Melanie this last week I wanted to share. The first needs a little explanation. Sister Wunderli and I made Melanie a cute jar with some of our favorites scriptures or chapters from the Book of Mormon. Melanie loved it and said she only reads them when she has a question or is sad to become happy. Well on Wednesday we had a good lesson. Melanie has been feeling pretty overwhelmed realizing that so much of her life she had no idea what she was doing was wrong. Repentance and changing is the point where Melanie is at. She called us on Thursday night at about 9:30. She was in tears. She said that she was just sitting in her room, thinking about what we had talked about, not knowing if she was good enough to move forward. She decided to choose a paper from the Jar. Moroni 6. Repentant people are received into Baptism. She explained that as she began to read she just cried because it felt like the words in Moroni 6 were taken from her heart and put on paper. She told me how grateful she was and that it was one of her first "zeugnis" (testimonies). The funny part of the story is that I remember writing the different chapters and scriptures...when Sister Wunderli said to write down Moroni 6...i thought ok that is a little random but ok. Little did she or I know that Moroni 6 would bring so much peace to Melanie's heart that night. The next experience happened at Conference. We told Mel to bring questions to conference. As we were sitting there in the chapel watching conference, all of a sudden - Melanie turns to me and said "He just answered my question!!!". Trying to "act cool" I was like "Oh really, that is so great!" and inside I was freaking out. Heavenly Father is just so great. He speaks to us in so many ways. Sometimes it is through our feelings, through the scriptures, through other people, but regardless of the manner, He speaks to us.
Susan wanted to come to church this weekend, but was not able to. It was actually a blessing since the subtitles in German are not ready yet. Susan is really cool. She is still trying to wrap her head around everything she has experienced. So I will give you the update next week!
I wanted to just write a little bit about my cutie companion, Sister Wunderli. I have been writing all of these miracles and have forgotten the miracle that is right by me 24/7...Sister Wunderli! Sister Wunderli is from Hungary and is a convert of 8 years. She was baptized when she was 14 with her older sister. Her mother was baptized a year later along with a few of her brothers. Today, Sister Wunderli is serving here in Austria. Her older sister is actually serving in the Ogden, UT mission. Little did those missionaries know 8 years ago, that these 2 sweet girls would one day be serving full-time missions, helping others come closer to the Savior. With the Hastening of the Work, the Ogden mission is able to use the technology and everything. The sister in Ogden is able to Skype her family in Hungary, teach her non-member father, and strengthen their 2 inactive brothers weekly. How cool is that? Sister Wunderli is so great. I learn so much from her. Her own conversion story alone motivates me to work harder and do more. I am grateful that the Lord blessed me with a miracle companion. She is not only hilarious (language barriers make things fun) but also an angel with a heart of gold.
I am grateful for the miracles God works in our lives. We just have to take the time and effort to see them. They are there. I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that through the Atonement we can receive the clarity, direction, and strength to go forward and do good. He lives and He loves you. This is the Lord's work and that is why miracles never cease.
Ich liebe euch!
XOXOXOOXOXOX
