Grüß euch!
How is everyone doing? I hope everyone had a lovely week! Our week here in Linz was really really great. To start off with, we were not in our area very much because of meetings and we were helping out other missionaries in their areas. It is always hard when we are not able to spend every day in our area simply because we have people to visit and people to find that are right here in Linz. Well so this last week when we were in Linz miracles were happening right and left. On Wednesday we had six lessons, three of which we had members with our investigators. That may mean nothing to you all, but 6 lessons in 1 day has never been done here in Linz.
Next, Sister Schönherr and I headed to Munich for the Leadership Conference. We were spiritually uplifted and learned so much. As a leadership council we discussed and decided on what we wanted to fast for as a mission on fast Sunday. This last Sunday, we felt inspired to fast that every companionship in the mission would see a baptism this coming transfer. As we decided on that, the Spirit was so strong. The Lord is leading this work and His Spirit is ever present.
Naturally after the Munich experience, we were motivated and excited to get back to Linz and help more of God's children. So Saturday night, one YSA from Linz had a birthday. Her name is Iris and she just got her mission call to the SLC, Utah mission! So it was fun to have a "missionary" birthday with her. After that, miracles fell right into place. We had an appointment with Rosie our investigator. After a few members saying they could not come on a joint teach with us, we figured we would just go there alone. The Lord had a better plan and started putting all the pieces together. From people giving other people rides to Iris coming with Jessie (another YSA girl from the ward) to drop us off at our appointment, the Lord knew what needed to happen. Iris and Jessie offered to come with us on our joint teach instead of swimming and celebrating the rest of Iris's birthday. It was soooooo cool! That night we had one of the most simple, yet powerful lessons with Rosie. The testimonies of the two members were crucial. The Spirit was then able to work with Rosie and she set her baptismal date for October 12th, 2013, her birthday! Rosie expressed how much she has to learn and change before this date, but that it was her desire. It was unforgettable. To end a great lesson, the members invited Rosie to church the next day, which we had tried for 3 weeks. As neat as the lesson was, my favorite part was when we were able to talk with Jessie and Iris after the miracle lesson. Something so unplanned and spontaneous to us was just what Rosie needed. Heavenly Father was able to use these members as tools in His hands to bring about not only a miracle with Rosie, but also to strengthen the testimonies of these great members.
Hearing Iris, the-soon-to-be-missionary, explain how much her testimony was strengthened after this night was so sweet. These two young girls were able to see that missionary work, the work of Salvation, is simply allowing us to be tools in His hands. I am so grateful for this simple, sweet experience. Rosie came to church on Sunday, in her sunday best, and stayed the entire three hours of church even though it was SO hot outside. Rosie was then able to feel the Spirit and asked the YSA if she could pick her up next Sunday as well. :)
There is another huge miracle that happened just last night, but I have no time! I will for sure write more about it next week! I love this Gospel! I love the beauty and simplicity that it offers us. I know that when we forget ourselves and seek to help those around us, just like Jesus always did, that is when we are truly happy and miracles will begin to happen in our lives. I read the other day about prayer...and one part of prayer really stood out to me. Prayer is not something where we go to change the situation we are in or take our problems away. Prayer is more about changing us. Heavenly Father is waiting and anxious to bless us, we just have to ask Him for those blessings and be worthy to recieve them.
I love our Savior. I love the miracles he worked when He was on the earth. I love the miracles He is still working and i am grateful He allows us to take part in those miracles when we have the desire to do just that.
Life is good! Be happy.
XOXOXOXOXO
Schwester Jaynes
