My 1st Week in GRAZ!

Hallo!
My first week here in Graz = Success
Missions are so crazy! They are really so undescribable.
Trying to put all my thoughts and feelings of an entire week is super hard, but ill try anyways.
Plus this crazy German keyboard has a lot of the keys in the wrong places.
That coupled with my lack of english - you may need the gift of tongues as you read this email :)
Missionary work here in Graz is going well! We are constantly busy with appointments.
We always get home just in time to plan for the next day and then go to bed because we are exhausted.
It is such a good feeling though to go to bed exhausted after sharing the gospel all day.
We are teaching a wide range of investigators.
One of the most progressing investigators is named Charles! He is from Nigeria, but has lived here in Austria for about 15 years.
He has such a good heart and is close to God. His entire story is cool, but long - so ill have to tell you that later.
He has committed to baptism on February 2nd! I think it will have to be pushed back a week simply because he has to learn a lot.
It is really awesome to see the changes the gospel brings to people.
Charles reads in the Book of Mormon everyday and says the most simple yet heartfelt prayers i have ever heard. Really neat.
The people here in Graz are in great need of the Gospel.
After one appointment we were talking to a man outside of Charles building.
The man said that his religion hasnt answered his questions. He said that his priests haven't given him the answers.
We bore testimony of God and the restoration. We told him about the Book of Mormon and that it could answer any questions he had.
The root of his question was why the world is the way it is.
The more we talked with him the more clear the answer became.
A large part of why the world is the way it is, is because people are not keeping the commandments.
How many times in the Book of Mormon alone does it say "keep the commandments"? SO MANY!
The prinicple of keeping the commandments is something that is relatively simple yet everyone struggles with it.
It is really cool to see changes in people when they begin to see the blessings from keeping the commandments.
Charles - our investigator - has literally seen a physical change since he has stopped smoking and drinking.
His skin has changed from gray to brown.
As if a physical change isnt enough or maybe more importantly, the spiritual change that has occured in Charles life is amazing.
He prays to God. He feels peace in his life. He helps those around him.
Charles has given out a few Books of Mormon already and tells everyone that we (the missionaries) want to talk with them. haha
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is how we can find true, long-lasting happiness in his life.
It is through Christ and the principles and doctrines he has established and taught that allow us to become the people we are to become.
The commandments are just one element, but a very important element in the Gospel.
I feel like I have taken "keeping the commandments" for granted.
I see the beauty in my life from keeping the commandments.
I see the sadness and despair in these people simply beacuase they lack the commandments.
God has a beautiful plan for all of his children. This message of His plan is what I am sharing with the people here in Graz.
In Mosiah 28:3 it says:
"Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human sould should perish..."
"..yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble."
This scripture applies to me so much right now.
As broken as my German is still, I really have felt this desire..the desire for souls to be saved.
This same desire is not unique to missionary work.
It is the same desire parents have for their children.
It is the same desire siblings have for their brothers and sisters.
It is in all of us.
In is in all of us because the divine portion of our Heavenly Father that is within in.
We are His children.
The Lord wants all of us to follow Him and return to live with Him.
Ahhh this Gospel is so great.
Life really is oh, so good with the Gospel.
If you are unhappy or not at peace - change.
The Gospel is the facilitator of change.
Through Jesus Christ we can change and be happy.
I am still super shocked that i am here serving a mission in Austria.
I am so privledged and blessed to be here, sharing this good news.
May the Lord bless each of you!
Be happy!
Ich liebe euch!
XOXO
Schwester Jaynes
